Adventures of a Lifetime: Riding the Hulahula to the Arctic Ocean (Alaska)
This is a view looking down the Hulahula River Valley, taken on the third day of an 11-day raft trip in northern Alaska. The river begins in the heart of the Brooks Range in northern Alaska and runs through the coastal plains of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, ending in the Arctic Ocean 90 miles later. It was was named by a crew of homesick 19th-century Hawaiian whalers on a ship stuck in the ice at the mouth of the river.
